My daughter Laura gave me this Schwinn Le Tour for my birthday, and while another few cold windy days slowed progress on the Schwinn S-10 mountain bike, I've been puttering around disassembling the Le Tour and researching her components...
Now I've gotten carried away cleaning them in order to see the bike together and functional again. My art currently seems to be repairing other people's art, and bicycles are definitely art.
SunTour drive train with Sugino cranks, Dia-Compe brakes and levers, Maillard hubs with Weinmann rims, stainless steel spokes with eyelets on the rim side no less, Tange headset with Sakae Custom stem attaching Sakae Road Champion drop handlebars. From the 80's, though I've yet to discover the exact year.
True Temper steel frame, made in Chicago, USA, even!
Back to cleaning... Sigh.
